What a workstation includes with us

A workstation sounds like a computer on a desk. In practice more hangs on it, and that is exactly why support is billed per workstation and not per device. With us a workstation covers: the computer itself with its operating system, drivers and the programs the business actually needs; the user account with its permissions, password rules and two-factor sign-in; the mailbox with signature, forwarding and out-of-office reply; access to shared files, whether they sit on a server in the building or in the cloud; the printer or multifunction device with the right drivers; and a backup of the data that exists only on that machine. When someone joins the business we set all of this up before they sit down on their first day. When someone leaves we lock the accounts the same day and preserve what has to be kept — the most common reason people later cannot reach old records.

Hardware: what we recommend, buy and set up

We do not sell hardware at a markup. We tell you which device fits the job and you buy it wherever it is cheapest — or we order it for you at cost and bill the setup. There is a reason for that: a dealer who earns on the hardware rarely recommends the smaller machine. For a workstation used for office work, accounting and industry software, a mid-range computer with enough memory and an SSD is almost always enough; the difference between a €600 device and a €1,400 one is not noticeable in that work, while the difference between a hard disk and an SSD shows on every start. For servers, network equipment and anything meant to run for five years we advise the opposite: the business range with on-site warranty — not for the performance, but for the spare parts supply. Setting up new devices is billed by the hour (€95 remote, €120 on site plus travel); under a running support contract, replacing a failed workstation is included in the monthly price.
