Server management and backups that hold when it matters
WVM-IT monitors business servers around the clock and runs backups so that they also work when it counts: backed up daily, every backup checked, the restore tested regularly. Server management costs from €89 per month, monitored backups from €49 per month. Everything is handled remotely across Austria and Germany.
Almost every business has a backup. Considerably fewer know when it last ran, and hardly any have ever tried to get something back out of it. That becomes apparent exactly once — on the day it matters. A backup that has never been restored is not a backup, it is a hope. So we treat it as a part of the business that needs checking, not as a setting that was switched on at some point.
The four sentences that usually get expensive
- “The backup is running” — but nobody has ever restored anything from it.
- The backup sits on a disk in the same room as the server.
- The server has run for years without anyone checking the drives.
- There is no plan for who does what, in which order, when it fails.
What management includes
- Round-the-clock monitoring: disk space, load, temperature, drives
- Updates and security patches, applied outside your working hours
- Daily backup, kept separately from the server
- Verification of every backup — and regular test restores
- A written procedure for the emergency: who does what, in which order
- Quarterly report: what ran, what stood out, what is coming

We check what is actually backed up
It is often not what people assume: the shared folder is included, the ERP system is not. We compare what the business needs in an emergency with what actually ends up in the backup.
- 02
Rebuild and separate the backup
The backup is set up to survive the loss of the server room and monitored so that a failed run is noticed the same day.
- 03
Test rather than hope
We restore data regularly and record how long it took. Only that figure turns a backup into a promise you can rely on.

Frequently asked questions
How often do you back up?
Daily by default, outside working hours. For systems that are in constant use we back up several times a day. How much data loss is acceptable in the worst case is agreed beforehand — the frequency follows from that, not the other way round.
Where is our data held?
On request exclusively in data centres inside the EU. Which backup goes where is recorded in writing; you need that for your GDPR record of processing activities anyway.
How quickly are we working again after a failure?
That depends on the volume of data and the cause. Which is exactly why we test restores: after the first test we know the real duration and can tell you instead of guessing.
Do you also take over a server somebody else set up?
Yes. We first document what is there and then tell you whether we would keep running it or replace it. We justify either — and only recommend a replacement when it pays for itself.
We will get back to you within 24 hours.
