IT security sized for a business, not for a corporation
WVM-IT reviews the IT security of small and mid-sized businesses and implements the measures that genuinely help: permissions, passwords, firewall, VPN, updates, verified backups. The one-off IT security check costs from €490 and ends with a written report and a list of actions; firewall and VPN are set up from €690. Reviews and support are delivered remotely across Austria and Germany.
Most damage in small businesses is not caused by a targeted attack but by everyday things: a password that works everywhere, the account of somebody who left long ago, a machine without updates, a backup that is worthless. You do not need a corporate security concept to fix that. You need somebody to look systematically once and then work through the points that actually prevent damage.
What we find almost everywhere
- Accounts belonging to staff who left months ago.
- An administrator password several people know and nobody changes.
- Machines that have not seen an update in a year.
- A backup that could not be restored in an emergency.
What the security check covers
- Users and permissions: who can do what, and why
- Passwords and accounts, including those of former staff
- Updates on servers, workstations and network devices
- Firewall, VPN and access from outside
- Backups: scope, separation, verification, restorability
- A written report with actions, sorted by effect and effort
Review, report, work through
- 01
Review
We look at systems, accounts, network and backups — mostly remotely, usually within a day.
- 02
Report
You receive a report in plain language: what is fine, what is risky, what it would cost to change it.
- 03
Work through
You decide what gets implemented — including nothing. The report is yours and can be worked through by another provider just as well.

Frequently asked questions
We are a small business. Are we even a target?
Most attacks are not selected but automated: they look for open access and old software, not for particular companies. Small businesses get hit precisely because somebody looks less often.
What does an outage actually cost us?
Take your own daily revenue and the number of staff who cannot work. That figure is the most honest measure of which measures are worth it — which is why it appears in our report next to every recommendation.
Does this inevitably mean selling us new hardware?
No. A large share of the effective measures costs nothing but working time: clean up accounts, limit permissions, switch on updates, separate the backup. We recommend hardware only when it solves a specific problem.
Does the report help with GDPR?
It supplies a large part of the technical details you have to document anyway for your record of processing activities and your technical and organisational measures. It does not replace legal advice.
We will get back to you within 24 hours.
