How secure is the IT in your business?

Ten questions, answered honestly, give a usable picture — and above all an order of priority. You get the result immediately, without an email address and without anything being stored. The test does not replace an audit; it shows you where an audit would have to start.

Answer as things really are today, not as they should be. „Don't know“ is a valid answer and just as informative as a no — in IT security, not knowing is the same as not being secure, only less comfortable to notice.

  1. Has it been checked at least once in the last twelve months that data can actually be restored from the backup?

    That means a real restore, not the green tick in the backup software.

  2. Is at least one copy of the data kept separate from the network — in another place or offline?

    A backup drive permanently attached to the server does not count.

  3. Is two-factor sign-in active for every access from outside — email, remote maintenance, cloud?

    That is a second step in addition to the password, such as an app or a code.

  4. Do all computers and servers in the building still receive security updates?

    That includes the till, the machine's control panel and the computer in the workshop.

  5. Are the accounts of departed employees disabled reliably and promptly?

    Reliably means there is a fixed procedure, not somebody remembering.

  6. Are the guest Wi-Fi and the operational network technically separated?

    A separate password is not enough — this means a separate network.

  7. Are laptops and phones holding company data encrypted and remotely lockable?

    A login password alone is not encryption.

  8. Does anybody in the business know completely which devices, credentials and contracts exist?

    Completely means written down, not in one person's head.

  9. Is there a written procedure for an emergency: who does what, in which order?

    One page is enough. It should be readable without access to the server.

  10. Is it known how long a complete restore would actually take?

    That means a measured figure, not an estimate.

Do you store my answers?

No. There is no submission to us, no storage and no evaluation. The answers sit in your browser's address bar so that you can pass the result on or bookmark it — nothing more happens. That is precisely why there is no form standing in front of the result.

Does the test replace a real audit?

No, and it does not try to. It shows where an audit would have to start. A real audit looks at the systems rather than asking questions — it finds the things nobody in the building knows about. Our IT security check costs €490 and ends with a written report and a list of measures sorted by urgency.

We ticked „don't know" for almost everything. Is that bad?

It is honest, and that is a better starting point than an optimistic yes. In practice „don't know" nearly always means nobody is responsible — and that is the actual finding. The list below still applies; it is simply the beginning of taking stock rather than of remediation.

How long does it take to close the open items?

That depends on the business, but the order helps: two-factor sign-in, a restore test and a separately kept backup copy are done in one to two days in most businesses and take away most of the risk. The rest is order and runs alongside.
